Kazakhstan cities use mobile app to enforce quarantine
Authorities in the Kazakhstan cities of Astana and Almaty will require those ordered to mandatory quarantine to install the Smart Astana app and enable geolocation settings, wifi, and Bluetooth to make it possible to monitor them and ensure they move no more than 30 meters from their designated location. If the person's phone is inactive for four hours, or if the Ministry of Health is notified that they've moved too far, they will receive a video call to ask why. The Smart Astana app will also allow residents to use some public services.
