New York City lifts Zoom ban after security improvements
A number of incidents in which Zoom events in education settings were disrupted led the New York City school district to ban the use of Zoom for remote learning.
Among the Zoombombing incidents: saboteurs inserted racist and anti-Semitic messages into a virtual graduation ceremony at Oklahoma City University, displayed child abuse images for several seconds during a Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District Board of Education meeting, and displayed inappropriate material in a class in Lumberton Township, New Jersey for 15 seconds.
Similar incidents have occurred on other platforms. The City reversed the ban after the company put new security measures in place.
