Josie Thum
Josie is an Advocacy Officer at Privacy International. She works on our countering authoritarianism and surveillance at borders projects, and on our strategic areas strengthening dignity and democracy.
Prior to joining Privacy International, Josie was a Senior Research and Policy Associate at the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD) where she focused on human rights in the Gulf, namely the death penalty, political prisoners, asylum and state and corporate accountability. She also worked as a Legal Clinical Fellow and as Advocacy Manager for a child rights organisation. Josie holds a BA in English from Bristol University and a Master’s in International Humanitarian Action from the University of Deusto, specialising in international public law.
