Karla Prudencio Ruiz
Karla is an Advocacy Officer at Privacy International. She works on our strategic areas Defending Democracy and Dissent, Dignity, and Demanding State accountability.
Karla has extensive experience working in the regulatory sector. She was a Senior Legal Advisor at the Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico and Head of the Office of Transparency and Data Protection at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE). She also has a track record of working with rural and Indigenous communities on connectivity issues and digital rights. Prior to joining Privacy International, Karla was Head of Political Advocacy of REDES, a well-recognized non-profit organization, and a Research Associate of the Red en Defensa de los Derechos Digitales (R3D). She holds a Law Degree from CIDE and a Master's in Law, Science, and Technology from Stanford University.
